Management guide
What belongs in a useful weekly management report?
A weekly report should help management decide and act. If it only describes activity, it is not yet a management tool.
A short executive summary
State overall performance, the most important change, the largest concern and any decision required in five lines or fewer.
A focused KPI scorecard
Show a small set of measures with target, actual, variance and a short explanation. Use consistent definitions from week to week.
Achievements with business impact
Describe what changed for revenue, customers, cost, efficiency or risk—not only what the team completed.
Issues, risks and decisions
Name the impact, owner and due date. Separate information items from matters that require management approval.
Next-week priorities
Limit priorities to the few outcomes that matter most and define what success will look like.
An action log
Every decision should become an action with one accountable owner, a due date and a visible status at the next meeting.
